Visit to the flood-affected areas of Brushgrove, Grafton and Boggabilla, New South Wales

On Thursday 20 January 2011, at Brushgrove, New South Wales, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE thanked State Emergency Service volunteers for their contribution during the floods and the ongoing recovery efforts.

Afterwards, at Grafton, New South Wales, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce visited the Community Recovery Centre and met with support workers and members of the local community affected by the recent floods.

In the afternoon, at the Clarence-Nambucca Region State Emergency Services Headquarters, South Grafton, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a lunch for the State Emergency Service; New South Wales Rural Fire Service; and Salvation Army volunteers.

Afterwards, at Toomelah and Boggabilla, New South Wales, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce inspected flood damage to local property, met with members of the local community affected by the recent floods, and thanked emergency services personnel and local volunteers involved in the relief efforts.
