Visit to the flood-affected towns of Condamine and Chinchilla, Queensland
On Friday 7 January 2011, near Condamine, Queensland, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited the cattle-feed lot of Mr Simon and Mrs Kylie Drury to learn about the devastation caused by the recent floods.
Afterwards, in Condamine, Queensland, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of Western Downs Regional Council, Councillor Ray Brown, met with members of the local community affected by the recent floods and thanked emergency services personnel, local volunteers and support groups involved in the relief efforts.
In the afternoon, in Chinchilla, Queensland, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, visited the local Recovery Centre and met with members of the community affected by the recent floods.
