Visit to Katherine
On Friday 20 June 2014, in Katherine, Northern Territory, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Marion Scrymgour, visited the Wurli-Wurlinjang Health Service.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Kalano Community Association, Mr Ian Woods, visited the Kalano Community Market Gardens.
Later, at Katherine High School, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of the Clontarf Foundation, Mr Gerard Neesham OAM, viewed a training session at the Katherine Clontarf Academy, and as guests of the Principal, Ms Anne White, attended a lunch with students.
Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the owners, Mr Alex Ariston and Mrs Petrena Ariston, visited Top Didj Cultural Experience and viewed an Indigenous cultural performance by local artist, Mr Manual Pamkal.
Afterwards, at Katherine Hospital, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Flinders Northern Territory Medical Program, Ms Monica Barolits-McCabe, visited the Flinders Street Medical School.
In the evening, at the Godinymayin Yiyards Rivers Arts and Cultural Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Ms Cath Bowdler, viewed the National Museum of Australia exhibition 'Warakurna'.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a community reception hosted in their honour by the Mayor of Katherine Town Council, Alderman Fay Miller.
