Visit to Melbourne

On Monday 7 April 2014, at Wandong, Victoria, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the co-founders of BlazeAid, Mr Kevin Butler OAM and Mrs Rhonda Butler OAM, met with volunteers and supporters of BlazeAid and farmers affected by the February bushfires.

Afterwards, at Chintin, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Mr Scott Pape and Mrs Elizabeth Pape, visited a sheep property affected by the February bushfires.

Later, at Government House, Melbourne, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Governor of Victoria, His Excellency the Honourable Alex Chernov AC QC and Mrs Elizabeth Chernov.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received the Premier of Victoria, the Honourable Denis Napthine MP.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the President of the Legislative Council, the Honourable Bruce Atkinson MLC, and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly, the Honourable Christine Fyffe MP.

Later, the Governor-General received the Leader of the Opposition, the Honourable Daniel Andrews MP.

Then, the Governor-General received the Victorian Honorary Aides-de-Camp, Brigadier Michael Arnold ADC, Colonel Michael Annett CSC ADC, Colonel Bill Monfries CSC ADC and Commander Michael Murray ADC RAN.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a dinner hosted in their honour by the Governor and Mrs Chernov.
