Visit to Regional Victoria
On Tuesday 17 February 2015, at the Aviation Museum, Benalla, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Craig Morrison, visited the Benalla Men’s Shed and met with staff and members.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive, Mrs Margaret Aldous, and President of the Board, Mr Colin McDonald, visited Cooinda Village and met with staff and residents.
Later, at the Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop Learning Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Benalla Rural City, Councillor Justin King, attended a community reception.
Then, at Mansfield Shire Council, Mansfield, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Mansfield Shire, Councillor Marg Attley, attended a community lunch.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove visited Café Connect, the Mansfield Armchair Cinema and the Mansfield Secondary College Community Garden and met with clients, volunteers, students and staff.
Later, at the Y Water Discovery Centre, Yea, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Murrindindi Shire Council, Councillor Margaret Rae, attended a community afternoon tea.
Then, in Kinglake, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Co-Founders of Firefoxes Australia, Ms Jemima Richards and Ms Kate Riddell, attended a community event with local volunteers who were affected by the Kinglake fires of February 2009.
