Visit to Regional Victoria
On Monday 16 February 2015, at Wodonga Arts Space, Wodonga, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of the City of Wodonga, Councillor Rod Wangman, attended a community reception.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Michael Cutmore, visited the Mungabareena Aboriginal Corporation.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Martin OAM, met with clients, volunteers and staff at the Murray Valley Centre.
Then, in Wooragee, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Ms Christine Varker, visited the Wooragee Primary School and met with teachers and students from Wooragee, Middle Indigo and Yackandandah Primary Schools.
Afterwards, in Beechworth, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Indigo Shire Council, Councillor Bernard Gaffney, attended a community lunch at Beechworth Town Hall Gardens.
Later, in Wangaratta, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Ms Trish Merlo, met with students and supporters of the Borinya-Wangaratta Community Partnership.
Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer, Ms Margaret Bennett, and Board Chair, Mr Brendan Schutt, visited Northeast Health Wangaratta.
Afterwards, at the Wangaratta Government Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Rural City of Wangaratta Youth Council Mayor, Ms Ella Thomas, met the Wangaratta Youth Council and discussed issues affecting young people within the region.
In the evening, at the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Administrator of the Rural City of Wangaratta, Ms Irene Grant, attended a community reception.
