Visit to Saudi Arabia following the passing of King Abdullah
On Tuesday 27 January 2015, at the Australian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), met with the Governor-General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston CC CMM COM CD.
Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of the Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr Neil Hawkins, attended a morning tea with representatives of the Australian community living in Riyadh.
Later, the Governor-General conveyed the condolences of the government and people of Australia to the Crown Prince of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, following the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Then, the Governor-General met with the Governor-General of New Zealand, His Excellency Lieutenant General the Right Honourable Sir Jerry Mateparae GNZM QSO.
