Visit to Saudi Arabia following the passing of King Abdullah

On Monday 26 January 2015, at the Australian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received a briefing by the Australian Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, His Excellency Mr Neil Hawkins.

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a lunch hosted in his honour by the Australian Ambassador with Saudi business representatives and members of the Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia.

Later, at the Australian Embassy, the Governor-General met with Australian and locally engaged staff, and presented an Australia Day Achievement Medallion to First Secretary, Mr Ian Dickson.

In the evening, the Governor-General conveyed the condolences of the government and people of Australia to the Royal Court of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, following the death of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
