Visit to Tonga

On Friday 3 July 2015, at the Royal Palace, Nuku’alofa, Tonga, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove attended an audience with His Majesty King Tupou VI, at which the Governor-General was awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Order of the Crown, and Lady Cosgrove was awarded the Grand Cross of the Royal Household Order of Tonga.

Afterwards, at the Ofa Tui’ Amanaki Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove as guests of the Secretary General, Tonga Red Cross Society, Mr Sione Taumoefolau, officially opened refurbished buildings which provide care for young children and adults with disabilities.

In the evening, at the Fa’onelua Convention Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a welcome reception for visiting dignitaries, hosted by His Royal Highness The Crown Prince Tupoutoʻa ʻUlukalala.
