Visit to Townsville

On Saturday 21 March 2015, at The Strand, Townsville, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, reviewed the Townsville Operation Slipper Welcome Home Parade.

Afterwards, at Anzac Park, Townsville, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the Townsville Operation Slipper Commemorative Service, at which the Governor-General delivered the keynote address.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the Operation Slipper Family Lunch and met with members of the Australian Defence Force and their families.

Then, at Townsville City Council, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor, Councillor Jenny Hill, attended the Operation Slipper civic reception.
