Visit to the United Kingdom

On Saturday 2 August 2014, at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Men’s Hockey Semi-Final between Australia and England.

Afterwards, at Scotstoun, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Men’s Doubles Squash Semi-Final between Australia and England.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Women’s Squash Bronze Medal Match between Australian and England.

Then, at Strathclyde University, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, attended a reception hosted by the First Minister of Scotland, the Right Honourable Alex Salmond MSP.

In the evening, at the Malmaison Hotel, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted to dinner the Australian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Mr Alexander Downer AC and Mrs Nikki Downer.

Afterwards, at the Glasgow National Hockey Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the 2014 Commonwealth Games Women’s Hockey Final between Australia and England, at which the Governor-General, together with Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, presented the medals and gifts to the finalists.
