Wattle Day presentation; 2011 ACT Churchill Fellowship Awards; Connecting Over 50s Throughout Australia launch
On Wednesday 31 August 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the President, Mr Terry Fewtrell, and Committee Members of the Wattle Day Association, and later accepted a basket of wattle from students of Canberra Girls Grammar School in recognition of Wattle Day.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received from the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia, the National President, Mr Earle Jennings AM; the National Secretary, Mr Noel Moulder; the National Media Officer, Mr Allen Callaghan; and the Senior Vice-President, New South Wales Branch, Mr Neal Arena. The callers were accompanied by the Managing Director of BrandNet, Mr Stephen Davie, and presented a framed photograph of the Dedication Ceremony for the National Service Memorial, which took place at the Australian War Memorial on 8 September 2010.
Later, the Governor-General received the Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Mr Terry Moran AO.
In the evening, at the Commonwealth Club, Yarralumla, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, presented the 2011 Australian Capital Territory Churchill Fellowship Awards and Medallions.
Earlier, at the Hughes Community Centre, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the Connecting Over 50s Throughout Australia launch of their new logo and program 'Positive Outcomes'.
