On Wednesday 1 April 2009, at the Sydney Trades Hall, Sydney, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended the State Memorial Service for the late Mr Laurence Elwyn Short AO.

Afterwards, the Administrator and Sir Nicholas, as Joint Patrons of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (South East Section), participated in the ???Rhapsody of the Seas?? overnight cruise in support of the Service. In the afternoon, at Government House, Sydney, the Administrator received the Chief Executive Officer of the Ramahyuck District Aboriginal Corporation, Victoria, Dr Ali Khan, and Ms Heli Yoon. The Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed the United Republic of Tanzania on a State Visit to the Republic of Seychelles. In the evening, at the State House, Victoria, the Governor-General was received by the President of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Mr James Michel. Afterwards, at the State House, Victoria, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were Guests of Honour at a State Banquet hosted by the President of the Republic of Seychelles, His Excellency Mr James Michel.
