On Wednesday 14 February 2007 at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received the Australian High Commissioner-designate in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Jeff Hart.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Marlena Jeffery received the President of the Republic of Finland, Her Excellency Ms Tarja Halonen and Dr Pentti Arajarvi, accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland, His Excellency Mr Glen Lindholm and Mrs Tuovi Lindholm; and the Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Finland, Mr Richard Rowe PSM, and Mrs Asa Hasselgard-Rowe. Afterwards, Their Excellencies hosted a State Dinner in honour of the President and Dr Arajarvi.
