On Wednesday, 15 August 2007, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell ACT, Their Excellencies, the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General launched the book by Dr Craig Stockings, The Torch and the Sword: A History of the Army Cadet Movement in Australia 1866-2006.

Afterwards, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Special Operations Commander Australia, Major General Mike Hindmarsh AM CSC. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery received a farewell call by the High Commissioner for the Republic of India, His Excellency Mr Prabhat Shukla. In the evening, Their Excellencies hosted a reception for the Australian Landcare Council and afterwards hosted to dinner the Chancellor, University of Southern Queensland, Mrs Bobbie Brazil and Mr Lyn Brazil.
