On Wednesday 16 May 2007, at the Emergency Services Centre, Nowra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General, Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery met participants in the Shoalhaven Youth Volunteer Initiative. The Governor-General, as Patron of Surf Life Saving Australia, presented Bronze Medallions to four members of the Surf Life Saving South Coast Branch.

Afterwards, at Nowra High School, Their Excellencies attended an afternoon tea with Year 11 and 12 Indigenous students from the surrounding Shoalhaven High Schools. In the evening, at Worrigee House Reception Centre, Nowra, Their Excellencies, as guests of honour, attended the 10th Annual ???Stars of the Shoalhaven?? Industry Dinner, at which the Governor-General delivered an address and presented awards in recognition of local business, community groups and individuals who have made a significant contribution to the region.
