On Wednesday 25 March 2009, at the Sydney Opera House, the Administrator Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE attended the J??rn Utzon State Memorial Service.

At the Monument to Mozambican Heroes, Maputo, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General laid a wreath and visited the Monument crypt. Afterwards, at the Joachim Chissano Conference Centre, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended the opening session of the World Bank Conference on Corporate Social Responsibility at which the Governor-General delivered an address. Later, at the BHP-Billiton Mozal Aluminium Smelting Plant, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce received a briefing on Mozal operations and visited Mozal Community Development Trust projects, the Nelson Mandela Secondary School and the Guebuza Technical College. In the afternoon, in Maputo, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a lunch with Mozambican business leaders at which the Governor-General delivered an address. Afterwards, at the Southern Sun Hotel, Maputo, the Governor-General received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Mozambique, the Right Honourable Ms Luisa Dias Diogo.
