On Wednesday 28 November 2007, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC and Mrs Marlena Jeffery hosted a morning tea for the General Sir John Monash Foundation at which the Governor-General, as Patron-in-Chief of the Foundation, presented the 2008 Awards.

In the evening, Their Excellencies hosted a reception at which the Governor-General, as Patron of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Australia ??? ACT Division, presented the Gold Award to ACT recipients. Earlier, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure in Australia of the Governor-General of Tuvalu, His Excellency the Honourable Reverend Sir Filoimea Telito GCMG MBE, by Colonel Steve Tulley, AM, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
