On Wednesday 8 October 2008, in Mildura, Victoria, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE visited the Alfred Deakin Centre and viewed a traditional welcome to country.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce toured the Psyche Pumping Station and attended a barbeque lunch with representatives of Lower Murray Water, the Steam Preservations Society and the Chaffey Trail Reference Group. Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the owner of Advinco Farm Nangiloc, Ms Georgina Gibson, toured Advinco Farm Nangiloc and received a briefing on irrigation technology. In the evening, at the Mildura Arts Centre Gallery, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of the Mildura Rural City Council, Councillor John Arnold, attended a Civic Reception hosted in their honour.
