Wingecarribee Shire, New South Wales
On Wednesday 1 July 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, to Wingello, New South Wales.
On arrival, and as guests of Councillor Duncan Gair, Mayor, Wingecarribee Shire, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a morning tea with small business owners, New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS) volunteers and community representatives involved in the Black Summer bushfires.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a guided walking tour through Wingello Village to view bushfire damage and the progress of recovery efforts.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Bundanoon where they attended a lunchtime reception with RFS volunteers and community representatives involved in the Black Summer bushfires.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Bowral, where they attended a community reception with Business Chamber and Community representatives.
