The Women’s Auxiliary of Sydney Legacy; Opening night of Blak; European Australian Business Council Mission to Europe
On Friday 7 June 2013, at Legacy House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, as Patron, presented Certificates of Appreciation at the 80th Annual General Meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of Sydney Legacy.
In the evening, at the Sydney Opera House, the Administrator, as Guest of Honour, attended the opening night of Bangarra Dance Theatre Australia’s Blak, followed by a post-performance reception in the Concert Hall, Northern Foyer.
Earlier, in Vienna, Republic of Austria, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO, attended a briefing for the European mission by the President of the European Australian Business Council, Mr Alastair Walton, and the Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, His Excellency Mr David Stuart.
Afterwards, at the Vienna International Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of the Director General, Dr Yukiya Amano, and accompanied by members of the European Australian Business Council, attended a briefing by the International Atomic Energy Agency.
Later, at the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries Headquarters, the Governor-General, as guest of the Secretary General, His Excellency Mr Abdalla El-Badri, and accompanied by members of the European Australian Business Council, attended a briefing on recent oil market developments and the long term outlook of market stability and energy security.
Then, at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chamber President, Dr Christoph Leitl, and accompanied by members of the European Australian Business Council, attended a discussion on economic developments and opportunities in Austria and Australia with senior business leaders.
Afterwards, at the Austrian National Bank, the Governor-General, as guest of the Governor, Dr Ewald Nowotny, and accompanied by members of the European Australian Business Council, attended a discussion on global financial and Eurozone developments.
In the evening, at the Hoffburg Palace, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the Federal President of the Republic of Austria, His Excellency Dr Heinz Fischer, and later, attended a dinner hosted in their honour.
Earlier, at the Museum of Military History, Mr Bryce, as guest of the Vice-Director, Dr Christoph Hatschek, viewed the World War I and World War II exhibitions.
