Call with His Majesty The King
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley have spoken over the phone to His Majesty The King to express the condolences of all Australians at the passing of Queen Elizabeth The Second.
During the call, which took place at 8:45pm AEST, the Governor-General conveyed the outpouring of emotion that has occurred across Australia to His Majesty. He expressed the well wishes of the Australian people to The King, who reflected on his admiration and affection for the people of Australia.
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will travel to the United Kingdom tomorrow to attend commemorative events and meet in person with His Majesty.
Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria, will serve as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia during the Governor-General’s absence overseas.
