Celebrating International Women's Day

On International Women’s Day, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley have encouraged Australians to nominate a woman that inspires them for recognition through the Order of Australia.

“International Women’s Day is a day to reflect on who we are, who we want to be and to commit to the tangible acts needed to get there. Every day in our roles, Linda and I, meet outstanding Australian women,” the Governor-General said.

“Women that are leading the charge in their community. We don’t just meet them. We see the impact they have,” Mrs Hurley said

“Women who are selfless … determined and strong … compassionate and kind … and make an impact on the world around them deserve to be recognised.

“Not just on International Women’s Day – every day of the year.”

“This International Women’s Day there is something that each and every one of us can do: look around your community. Identify someone that goes above and beyond and makes a difference … go to my website and nominate them for recognition,” the Governor-General said.
