Governor-General to visit Solomon Islands
The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley will visit Solomon Islands from 19 – 21 November to attend the Pacific Games.
The Governor-General will be supporting the largest ever Australian team at a Pacific Games, celebrating the shared love of sport that unites the Pacific family and our long-standing partnership with Solomon Islands.
While in Solomon Islands and attending the Games, the Governor-General will also:
- meet with the Acting Governor General of Solomon Islands Mr Patterson Oti and Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare
- attend the opening of Solomon Islands Meteorological Services Building, which was funded by Australia to support disaster preparedness and response capability
- visit the National Referral Hospital and meet staff, including Australians clinicians, working to improve health outcomes
- meet with the community and the people that underpin our nations’ relationship.
Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, will serve as Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia during the visit.
