Susan McCallum OAM
Susan McCallum OAM says she is motivated by her Mum’s experience after Susan’s father was killed in service as a member of the Royal Australian Navy.
“My mum received little assistance, and I was also a partner of a Vietnam veteran who suffered from PTSD until his death.”
This lived experience supports her ability to do the work she does and she takes particular pride that some people believe her work warrants recognition through the Order of Australia.
“I am proud that I have the knowledge and skills to help to improve veterans’ lives, and that of their families.”
“It is very humbling to know that my efforts are thought so highly of. Everyone in my life, my family, friends, veterans, have helped me,” Ms McCallum says.
In particular she wanted to thank Bob Wood OAM for his friendship and mentorship in her military advocacy journey.
