Christine Sinclair AM
Christine Sinclair AM has spent a long career contributing to squash, transforming her love of the sport into ensuring it is played at its best.
She is currently a senior squash referee assessor and referee at the World Squash Federation, and formerly worked for the Oceania Squash Federation, Squash Australia and Squash NSW.
Mrs Sinclair has also played squash throughout Australia.
The impact she has had in Australia and overseas has been recognised through her appointment as a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to squash as an administrator.
On top of her achievements within the sport, Mrs Sinclair is a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She says the growth in appreciation for the sport is what she is most proud of.
“I think the greatest impact resulting from my work is the recognition of squash referees, respect for their time and expertise, and acceptance of Australia’s world-standard training programs,” she says.
Mrs Sinclair never sought recognition, saying “when I heard I was being considered for recognition in the Order of Australia I was stunned to be rewarded for doing something I have loved doing, and I see this recognition as not just for myself, but for the sport of squash and especially for its referees.”
“My overseas travel for squash would not have been possible without the support of my husband, and whilst I am being awarded this honour, my thanks go to my mentor (the late) David Donelly, NSW Squash president John Small OAM, Oceania Squash when led by Colin Clapper AM, and the World Squash Federation.”
