Mount Isa, QLD; Cloncurry, QLD
On Friday 16 June 2017, at the Mount Isa Civic Centre, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as guest of the Mayor of Mount Isa, Councillor Joyce McCulloch, attended a civic reception.
In the afternoon, at the Mount Isa School of the Air, the Governor-General, as guest of the Principal, Mr Tim Moes, viewed the facilities and was briefed on operations. The Governor-General then conducted a question and answer segment with students of the school aged between 6 and 12.
Afterwards, at the Mount Isa Multi-Purpose User Depot, the Governor-General, as guest of the Officer Commanding, Major Jeremy Barraclough, viewed the facilities and met with members of Delta Company, 51st Battalion, Far North Queensland Regiment.
Later, at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Headquarters and Hangar, Mount Isa, the Governor-General, as guest of the head of clinical operations, Mr Trent Dean, viewed the facilities, was briefed on operations and met with staff.
In the evening, at the John Flynn Place Museum, Cloncurry, the Governor-General, as guest of the Mayor of Cloncurry, Councillor Greg Campbell, attended a civic reception.
