On Thursday 1 June 2017, at Government House, Wellington, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Governor-General of New Zealand, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Dame Patsy Reddy GNZM QSO DStJ and His Excellency Sir David Gascoigne KNZM CBE CStJ, attended a ceremonial welcome.
Afterwards, at the Great War Exhibition, Wellington, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the General Manager, Mr Dave Clearwater, viewed the facilities and met with staff.
Later, at the New Zealand Hall of Memories, Wellington, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chair of the National War Memorial Advisory Council, Rear Admiral David Ledson ONZM (Retd), participated in a remembrance ceremony and laid a wreath in honour of the service and sacrifice of our ANZACs.
Then, at the Australian War Memorial, Wellington, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Rear Admiral Ledson viewed the memorial and laid a wreath.
Afterwards, at the National Library of New Zealand, Wellington, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Minister for Internal Affairs, the Honourable Peter Dunne, viewed the He Tohu Exhibition. He Tohu is a new permanent exhibition of three iconic constitutional documents that shape Aotearoa New Zealand.
Later, at the Australian High Commission, Wellington, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended an investiture ceremony, where the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested His Excellency Peter Woolcott AO with the insignia of an Officer of the Order of Australia.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Wellington, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Governor-General of New Zealand, and Sir David, attended a State Lunch.
Afterwards, at the Ardmore Military Training Facility, Auckland, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commanding Officer, viewed the facilities and met with staff.
Later, at the Papakura Military Camp, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with members of the New Zealand Defence Force.
In the evening, at Government House, Auckland, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Governor-General of New Zealand, and Sir David, attended a dinner.
