On Thursday 24 November 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), presided a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Afterwards the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Republic of Croatia, Ms Elizabeth Petrovic.
Later, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Vanuata, Ms Jenny Da Rin.
Then, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Guillaume Kavaruganda, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner of the Republic of Rwanda.
Afterwards, at Defence Establishment Fairbairn, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Canberra of Their Majesties King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, by Mr Paul Singer MVO, Acting Deputy Official Secretary to the Governor-General.
In the afternoon, at HMAS Cerberus, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Captain Stephen Bowater OAM RAN, received a briefing on HMAS Cerberus operations and met with staff.
In the evening, at HMAS Cerberus, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Captain Bowater, planted a tree at Cerberus House and attended a dinner.
Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Ararat West Primary School, VIC, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
