Burnie, TAS; Devonport, TAS; Launceston, TAS

On Tuesday 18 October 2016, in Shorewell Park community, Burnie, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Deputy Mayor of the Burnie City Council, Cr Alvwyn Boyd, visited Burnie Community House and Housing Choices Tasmania and met with members of the local community.

Afterwards, at the Autism Specific Early Learning and Care Centre, Burnie, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Ms Kathryn Fordyce, received a briefing on operations and met with staff, volunteers, clients and their families.

Later, at Burnie High School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Ms Judith Fahey, visited classrooms and met with students and staff, and representatives of Beacon Foundation.

Then, at Devonport Community House, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Ms Kate Beer, viewed the facilities and met with staff, volunteers and members of the community.

Afterwards, at the Mission Australia Devonport Office, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Victoria/Tasmania State Director of Mission Australia, Mr Noel Mundy, received a briefing on the Personal Helpers and Mentors Program and met with clients and staff.

In the evening, at the Queen Victoria Art Gallery, Launceston, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Launceston City Council, Alderman Albert van Zetten, attended a civic reception.
