On Friday 14 October 2016, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received the Prime Minister, the Honourable Malcolm Turnbull MP.

Afterwards, at The Royal Thai Embassy, Yarralumla, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, following the passing of the King of Thailand, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, conveyed the condolences of the people of Australia to the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, His Excellency Mr Chirachai Punkrasin, and Mrs Kanyaratana Punkrasin.

Later, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from The Glennie School, QLD; Kingswood College Junior School, VIC; and Sheldon College, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
