On Friday 16 September 2016, at Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS), Mildura, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Mr Keith Hampton, viewed the MDAS Health Services clinic, Family Services facilities and met with staff and volunteers.
Afterwards, at Murray River Salt, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the General Manager, Mr Leighton Schmidt, received an overview of operations, viewed the facilities and met with staff.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove as guests of the Manager, Ms Mel Tucker, visited the Mildura Chocolate Company, which is an Australian Disability Enterprise, and viewed production activities while meeting with staff and volunteers.
Then, at Nichols Point Primary School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Mrs Jo McQuinn, attended a combined school assembly with students and parents; met with students; and launched the ‘Government House Expedition,’ the first Google virtual tour to be launched in Australia.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General met with students from St John’s School, QLD, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
