Cowra, NSW; Canberra, ACT

On Monday 5 September 2016, at the Agricultural Research and Advisory Station, Cowra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager of Central Cluster, Research Services, NSW Department of Primary Industries, Mr Peter Droulers, viewed agronomy research trials and research facilities and received a brief on current research projects.

Afterwards, at the Mulyan Public School, Cowra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Principal, Mr John Smith, visited classes and met with teachers and students.

Later, at the Yalbillinga Boori Day Care Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Centre Coordinator, Ms Caroline Bamblett, received a brief on the facilities and programs and met with staff, volunteers and children.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a ceremony at which the Governor-General invested His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC with the insignia of the Companion of the Order of Australia.

In the evening, following the departure of the Governor-General from Australia on a visit to Brazil to represent Australia at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of South Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Hieu Van Le AC.
