Woodstock, NSW; Cowra, NSW

On Sunday 4 September 2016, at the Woodstock Showgrounds, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove officially opened the 70th Woodstock Memorial Show.

Afterwards, at the Cowra Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Mr Bob Griffiths, viewed the gardens and exhibits and met with staff and volunteers.

Later, at the Cowra Prisoner of War Camp, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Cowra Shire Council, Councillor Bill West, received a brief on local history and planted a tree with Mulyan Public School year 4 student, Miss Lilly Smith.

Then, at the Cowra War Cemeteries, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Councillor Bill West, laid a wreath at the Australian and Japanese War Cemeteries.

In the evening, at the Quarry Restaurant, Cowra, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Councillor Bill West, attended a civic reception.
