On Friday 2 September 2016, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove hosted a morning tea to launch National Child Protection Week 2016.

Afterwards, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove farewelled members of the Australian Paralympic Team, bound for the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games.

Later, at the Lowy Cancer Research Centre, UNSW Kensington, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove officially opened the Australian Cancer Research Foundation’s Child Cancer Personalised Medicine Centre.

In the afternoon, at Admiralty House, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a graduation ceremony and reception, at which the Governor-General presented graduation certificates to the 2016 Year 12 Australian Indigenous Education Foundation Scholarship Graduates.
