On Thursday 25 August 2016, at Bondi Icebergs, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron and guest of the President of Surf Life Saving Australia, Mr Graham Ford AM, attended a ceremony to officially re-opening of Surf House, at which the Governor-General also presented the National Rescue of the Month Awards for January, February and April.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as guest of the President, Mr Ken Rennie, attended the Australian Golf Club’s War Memorial and War Service Trophy Golf Day.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Rennie, attend the Australian Golf Club's War Memorial and War Service Trophy dinner.
