On Thursday 11 August 2016, in Ñuñoa, Chile, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Ms Afrodita Koronios, visited the Australian-funded San Nectario Foundation school for children with autism and dysphasia.
Afterwards, at the Pre-Colombian Art Museum, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Dr Carlos Aldunate del Solar, viewed the exhibition funded by Australian business, ‘Chile before Chile’.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch for Australian Embassy staff.
Then, at the Ex-Congress Building, the Governor-General met with the President of the Chilean Senate, Senator Ricardo Lagos Weber, and President of the Chilean Chamber of Deputies, Mr Osvaldo Raúl Andrade Lara.
In the evening, in Las Condes, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with Australian Embassy and locally engaged staff.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Chilean Minister for Mining, Ms Aurora Williams Baussa.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to Chile, His Excellency Mr Timothy Kane, and Chairman, Australia-Chile Chamber of Commerce, Mr Nicolai Bakavic, attended a reception for Australian and Chilean business representatives.
