On Tuesday 9 August 2016, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), attended a breakfast for Australian and Argentine business representatives.
Afterwards, at Plaza San Martin, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Argentinian Minister for Foreign Affairs and Worship, Minister Susan Malcorra, laid a wreath at the General San Martin Monument.
Later, at the Palacio San Martin, the Governor-General met with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Worship, Minister Malcorra.
Then, at the Australian Embassy, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to Argentina, His Excellency Noel Campbell, met with Australian embassy staff.
Afterwards, at the Casa Rosada, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General was invested with the insignia of the Collar of the Order of the Liberator General San Martin, by President of the Argentine Republic, His Excellency Mauricio Macri.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of President Macri and First Lady, Ms Juliana Awada, attended a State Lunch hosted in their honour.
Then, at the National Congress, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Vice President of the Republic of Argentina and President of the Senate, Ms Gabriela Michetti.
Afterwards, at the Chamber of Deputies, National Congress, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Dr Emilio Monzó.
Later, at the Centro Cultural General San Martin, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Mr Diego Pimentel, viewed an exhibition of the Festival de la Luz by Australian artists Mr Gerard O’Connor and Mr Marc Wasaik, titled ‘Victoriana’.
Then, at the Supreme Court of Justice, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Argentine Chief Justice, Dr Ricardo Lorenzetti.
Afterwards, at the Plaza del Uruguay, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Mr Ignacio Corleto, visited the Australian-funded Fundación Botines Solidarios, met with trainers and participants and presented training equipment to the coaches.
In the evening, at the Australian Ambassador’s Residence, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian Ambassador and Mrs Orieta Campbell, attended a reception with Government, Community and Business leaders.
