On Saturday 30 July 2016, at Benito Juárez International Airport, Mexico City, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove attended a welcome ceremony at the commencement of a State Visit to the United Mexican States.

Afterwards, at the Australian Embassy, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received a briefing by the Australian Ambassador to Mexico, His Excellency Mr David Engel and Trade Commissioner, Mr Chris Rodwell.

Later, at the Mexican National Museum of Anthropology, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Director, Dr Antonio Saborit, viewed the Mayan, Teotihuacan and Mexica (Aztec) exhibits.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted to dinner Ambassador Engel and Australian Embassy staff.
