On Friday 5 July 2019, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), received General Angus Campbell AO DSC, Chief of the Defence Force; Vice Admiral David Johnston AO RAN, Vice-Chief of the Defence Force; Rear Admiral Mark Hammond AM RAN, Deputy Chief of Navy  representing the Chief of Navy; Lieutenant General Rick Burr AO DSC MVO, Chief of Army; and Air Marshal Mel Hupfeld AO DSC, Chief of Air Force, for a call. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Honourable Tony Smith MP, Speaker of the House of Representatives; the Honourable Christian Porter MP, Attorney-General; and Mr David Elder, Clerk of the House of Representatives, and gave assent to the first Bill since becoming Governor-General.

Later, the Governor-General received Mr Greg Moriarty, Secretary, Department of Defence, for a call.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with students from Eltham Public School, Victoria, as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
