On Friday 19 February 2016, in Uralla, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove met with local business owners and residents.
Afterwards, at the Aboriginal Cultural Centre and Keeping Place, Armidale, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Ms Daisy William, viewed the gallery and walked the bush tucker trail with Indigenous Elders and the Mayor of Armidale, Councillor Herman Beyersdorf.
Later, at the New England Regional Arts Museum (NERAM), the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Director, Mr Robert Heather, viewed the museum art collections.
Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Councillor Beyersdorf attended a Civic Reception at the NERAM.
In the afternoon, at Minimbah Primary School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Ms Jenny Brown, visited the school, viewed a performance and met with students, teachers and parents.
Afterwards, at the University of New England, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chancellor, Mr James Harris, and Vice Chancellor and CEO, Professor Annabelle Duncan, viewed the Exercise and Sports Science facility and met with faculty staff and students.
Later, at CSIRO Armidale, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Research Director, Productive and Adaptive Livestock Systems, CSIRO Agriculture, Dr Drewe Ferguson, viewed the Animal Welfare and Field sites and received research briefs from scientists and staff.
In the evening, at the Guyra Showgrounds, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Guyra Show Society, Ms Ellen Newberry, attended the 108th Guyra Show, at which the Governor-General opened the Show.
