At Flemington Racecourse, Victoria, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Victoria Racing Club, Mr Michael Burn, attended the Melbourne Cup Day, at which the Governor-General presented the Melbourne Cup trophy to Mr Sandy McGregor, who received the trophy on behalf of the winning connections.
