Orchid Naming Ceremony; Australian International School; Australians in Singapore afternoon tea; ‘50 Bridges’ Wall Art Installation; Australian High Commission BBQ
On Wednesday 23 September 2015, at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove as guests of the Director, Dr Nigel Taylor, attended an Orchid Naming Ceremony at which an orchid was named in their honour: Dendrobium Peter Lynne Cosgrove, before viewing the National Orchid Garden and Prisoner of War steps.
Afterwards, at the Australian International School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Australian International School, Mr Andre Casson, participated in a ground-breaking ceremony to mark the laying of the foundation stone of the Early Learning Centre currently under construction.
Later, at the Australian High Commissioner’s residence, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian High Commissioner to Singapore, His Excellency Mr Phillip Green OAM, attended an afternoon tea and met with Australians residing and working in Singapore.
Then, at Clementi, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Minister S. Iswaran, visited the ‘50 Bridges’ 50th wall art installation, at which the Governor-General applied the finishing strokes of paint on the mural.
In the evening, at the Australian High Commission, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Australian High Commissioner, met with staff and families.
