Visit to Troy and Assos; Ҫanakkale Naval Museum

On Friday 7 August 2015, in Troy, Turkey, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Mr James Larsen, visited the UNESCO World Heritage listed archaeological site of Troy.

Afterwards, in Assos, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, accompanied by the Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, visited Assos.

In the afternoon, in Ҫanakkale, the Governor-General, as guest of the Northern Sea Area Commander of the Turkish Navy, Vice Admiral Hasan Korlu, visited the Ҫanakkale Naval Museum to formally handover World War I items on behalf of the Australian War Memorial.
