Morning tea; Visit to the Ataturk Mausoleum; Ceremonial welcome; Meeting with the President of the Republic of Turkey; State Lunch; Welcome ceremony; Gallipoli Symphony Concert

On Tuesday 4 August 2015, in Ankara, Turkey, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove as guests of the Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Mr James Larsen and Mrs Antoinette Merrillees, attended a morning tea with Australian Embassy staff.

Afterwards, at Antikabir, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Commandant, Colonel Muzaffer Taytak, visited the Ataturk Mausoleum and laid a wreath in honour of the former President of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.

Later, at the Presidential Palace, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President of the Republic of Turkey, His Excellency Mr Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Mrs Emine Erdoğan, attended a ceremonial welcome.

Then, the Governor-General met with President Erdoğan and Lady Cosgrove met with Mrs Erdoğan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a State Lunch hosted in their honour by President Erdoğan and Mrs Erdoğan.

Later, at Istanbul International Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a welcome ceremony.

In the evening, at Hagia Irene, Istanbul, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove viewed the world premiere concert performance of the Gallipoli Symphony, at which the Governor-General delivered a speech.
