Morning Tea for the Canberra Rats of Tobruk; Visit to Rockhampton and Yeppoon

On Friday 13 March 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, hosted a morning tea for the Canberra Rats of Tobruk.

Afterwards, at the Rockhampton City Hall, the Governor-General, and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Rockhampton Regional Council, Councillor Margaret Strewlow, attended a Cyclone Marcia brief with Emergency Services Heads.

Later, at The Rockhampton Grammar School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, opened and viewed the Birkbeck Building and met with teachers and students.

Then, on Kerrigan Street, Rockhampton, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with residents affected by Cyclone Marcia.

In the afternoon, in Yeppoon, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor of Livingstone Shire Council, Councillor Bill Ludwig, met with residents affected by Cyclone Marcia.

Afterwards, at Yeppoon Recovery Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with staff and conducted a walk-through of the Centre.

Later, at Beaman Park, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with departing Australian Defence Force personnel, volunteers and local members of the community who assisted with the response to Cyclone Marcia.

Then, at the Rockhampton Botanical Gardens, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with staff and surveyed the damage at the heritage listed gardens.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended the ‘Rocky Road to Recovery’ Community Reception where the Governor-General acknowledged residents and volunteers involved in the response to Cyclone Marcia.
