On Monday 8 December 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received from His Excellency Mr George Vengesa, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Zimbabwe. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Dominic Buhera (Counselor), Mr Givemore Nyanzou (First Secretary) and Ms Maria Mapfumo (Third Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Auxilia Vengesa.
Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Jose Galego, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Jorge Trujillo (First Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Ms Veronica Cartaya Rodriguez.
Then, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Ms Connie Taracena, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of the Republic of Guatemala. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Magda Lopez (Minister Counsellor), Mr Mario Rodriguez (First Secretary) and Mr Carlos Fajardo (Nephew).
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch in honour of newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: Ms Jan Adams PSM; Mr Dominic Buhera; Mr Chris Cannan; His Excellency Mr José Galego and Mrs Veronica Cartaya Rodriguez; Ms Magda Lopez; Her Excelleny Ms Connie Taracena; Mr Jorge Trujillo; His Excellency Mr George Vengesa and Mrs Auxilia Vengesa; and His Excellency Mr Pedro Raul Villagra Delgado.
Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted an afternoon tea for the Honourable Nicholas Hasluck AM QC and the Hasluck family.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a reception for Australian Defence Force Academy and Royal Military College-Duntroon cadets and the Spitfire Association, at which the Governor-General presented the 2015 Spitfire Memorial Defence Fellowship.
