Launch of National Carers Week; Lunch at the Liverpool Community Kitchen and Hub; Foodbank Distribution Centre; Launch of Anglicare’s ‘State of the Family Report’; Visit to Gallipoli Mosque
On Tuesday 14 October 2014, at the Museum of Contemporary Art, The Rocks, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), as Patron of Carers Australia, and Lady Cosgrove, launched National Carers Week and met with carers and staff.
Afterwards, at the Liverpool Community Kitchen and Hub, Liverpool, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairperson, Mr Mike Meyer, assisted with the lunch service and met with staff, volunteers and clients.
Later, at Wetherill Park, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Lady Cosgrove visited the Foodbank Distribution Centre and met with staff and volunteers.
Then, at Anglicare Family Services, Sadleir, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of Anglicare Sydney, Mr Grant Millard, attended an afternoon tea at which the Governor-General launched Anglicare’s ‘State of the Family Report’ and later met with staff, volunteers and participants in Anglicare’s ‘Reconnect’, ‘Intensive Family Support’ and ‘Paul Street Out of Home Care’ programs.
Afterwards, at Gallipoli Mosque, Auburn, the Governor-General, as guest of the President, Dr Abdurrahman Asaroglu, and in the presence of the Turkish Consulate General, Dr Sheida Handan Arca, met with the leadership of the mosque and members of the Australian Turkish Muslim Community.
