Anzac Day Dawn Service, Bomana War Cemetery, Port Moresby
The Governor-General honoured the service and sacrifices of Australian Defence Force personnel and Papua New Guinean citizens during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service at Bomana War Cemetery in Port Moresby.
The Governor-General of Papua New Guinea, His Excellency Sir Michael Ogio, and the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, the Hon Peter O’Neill MP, joined Ms Bryce and thousands of guests at the service, which recognised the strong historic military bonds between both nations.
Both Governors-General laid wreaths as dawn broke over the Cemetery, which contains 3, 823 Commonwealth memorials from the Second World War.
Later, Ms Bryce met Australians attending the service, including young trekkers who recently walked the Kokoda Track.
