Federal Executive Council; ANZAC Eve Requiem Commemoration; State visit to Papua New Guinea
On Wednesday 24 April 2013, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Afterwards, at St Mary’s Cathedral, the Administrator, accompanied by Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, read the First Lesson at the ANZAC Eve Requiem Commemoration for those who died in war, followed by a reception in Cathedral House.
Earlier, in Port Moresby, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO, as guest of the Deputy Country Manager, Esso Highlands, Mr Dale Pitman, viewed the facilities at the LNG Processing Plant and received a briefing on the company’s community development programs.
Afterwards, at Gerehu Health Centre, the Governor-General, as guest of the Chair of the Papua New Guinea Global Fund Country Coordinating Mechanism, Lady Roselyn Morauta, and the Country Director of World Vision, Dr Curt von Boguslawski, viewed the facilities, and in the presence of the Papua New Guinea Health Minister, the Honourable Michael Malabag, handed over medical supplies funded by the Australian Government.
Later, at Parliament House, the Governor-General, as guest of the Governor of the Eastern Highlands Province, Ms Julie Soso, participated in a roundtable discussion with prominent Papua New Guinean women.
Then, at the Australian High Commission, the Governor-General, as guest of the Australian High Commissioner to the Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Her Excellency Ms Deborah Stokes, laid a wreath for the victims of the 2009 Kokoda air crash, and attended a reception with Australian High Commission staff and their families.
In the evening, at the Airways Hotel, the Governor-General received Mrs Judith Day.
